Descripción - Críticas “The first highlight of this book, a trait common to other entries in the series and a unique selling point, is how international it is. … this is another great entry in a fantastic series that is more and more aimed at all healthcare professionals working in nuclear medicine and PETCT such as technologists and radiographers, nurses, physicists and other allied healthcare professionals, as well as the clinicians in the series title (both referring clinicians and specialists).” (André Nunes, RAD Magazine, July, 2019) Reseña del editor This pocket book provides clinicians with the necessary information to understand the role of FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation. It will help both in making appropriate imaging requests with adequate clinical information and in interpreting the report. The coverage encompasses a wide range of topics, including the role of PET/CT in pyrexia of unknown origin, vasculitis, autoimmune diseases, prosthetic joint infections, osteomyelitis and diabetic foot, immunodeficiency disease, and vascular graft surgery. The book will be a very useful guide to a great test that can provide significant assistance in patient management. It is published within the Springer series Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging, in which leading professionals succinctly explain the importance of nuclear medicine in the diagnosis and management of oncological and non-oncological conditions. FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation--current and ~ FDG PET/CT exhibits distinct advantages over traditional radionuclide imaging techniques in terms of shorter duration of examination, higher spatial resolution, non-invasive nature of acquisition, ability to perform quantitative analyses, and the provision of a synergistic combination of functional and anatomical imaging.

PET/CT in Infection and Inflammation / Thomas Wagner ~ This practically oriented pocket book will help clinicians to understand all aspects of the role of FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation. It will assist both in making appropriate imaging requests with adequate clinical information and in interpreting reports.

PET/CT in Infection and Inflammation (Clinicians’ Guides ~ PET/CT in Infection and Inflammation (Clinicians’ Guides to Radionuclide Hybrid Imaging) 1st ed. 2018 Edition by Thomas Wagner (Editor), Sandip Basu (Editor) ISBN-13: 978-3319904115

PET/CT in Infection and Inflammation / SpringerLink ~ This pocket book provides clinicians with the necessary information to understand the role of FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation. It will help both in making appropriate imaging requests with adequate clinical information and in interpreting the report.

FDG PET of Infection and Inflammation / RadioGraphics ~ Although few data are available on the role of combined PET-CT in the assessment of infection and inflammation, this modality will undoubtedly prove to be useful. Combined PET-CT may prove to be especially useful for evaluating the musculoskeletal system to determine whether the infection involves bone, soft tissue, or both, in cases in which radionuclide imaging alone is inadequate ( , Fig 15

PET/CT Imaging in Soft Tissue Infection and Inflammation ~ PET/CT Imaging in Soft Tissue Infection and Inflammation—An Update. . including Ga-67 and labeled leucocyte SPECT/CT as well as PET/CT using 18F-FDG and recently Ga-68 tracers, . published data focus on summarizing the available imaging information with the purpose of providing the referring clinicians with optimized evidence based results.

PET/CT Imaging in Soft Tissue Infection and Inflammation ~ Nuclear medicine imaging techniques, including FDG PET/CT and labeled WBC scintigraphy have shown good diagnostic performance. 46 In 2016 a case definition for aortic graft infections was proposed, with PET/CT being considered a minor criterion by the Management of Aortic Graft Infection Collaboration. 47 A scientific statement on VGIs, mycotic aneurysms, and endovascular infections published .

PET Imaging of Inflammation Biomarkers ~ 2. Biomarkers for inflammation imaging. After being triggered by various stimuli, the inflammation cascade begins with the release of various pro-inflammatory mediators including cytokines, chemokines, and leukotrienes by resident inflammatory and endothelial cells.

Role of FDG PET/CT in infection and inflammation ~ The advantages of FDG PET/CT are that no need for time consuming and hazards manipulation of blood for labeling in WBC imaging, no need for complementary bone or bone marrow scan, can detect a tumor or infection focus as a cause of FUO, anatomical localization and better resolution.

Imaging of Inflammation by PET, Conventional Scintigraphy ~ Because of its high sensitivity, favorable imaging characteristics (good spatial resolution, no delayed imaging required), whole-body imaging, and high patient convenience, 18 F-FDG PET currently is the most powerful imaging modality in the diagnosis of FUO, especially when combined with CT in integrated PET/CT scanners allowing exact anatomic localization of 18 F-FDG–avid foci.

PET and SPECT in Infection and Inflammation ~ Infection not Synonymous with Inflammation Infection / inflammation is still a major cause of morbidity and mortality despite advances in both diagnosis and treatment Inflammation: – The complex biologic response of tissues to harmful stimuli . Infection: – A detrimental colonization by a foreign species

PET Imaging of Infection and Inflammation, An Issue of PET ~ PET/CT holds great promise for the management of many types of infection and inflammation. This issue discusses many of these uses, starting with arthroplasty-associated infection. FDG PET/CT also has utility in inflammatory bowel disease.&nbs

Principles and Practice of PET/CT - EANM ~ with the advent of hybrid PET-CT imaging. Since 2004, an annual “Technologists’ Guide” has been produced by the EANM Technolo-gist Committee.
